Bio
Emily De Boer is a disabled interdisciplinary artist investigating the connection between discarded objects and excluded bodies. Her work relies on chance, images - taken and found, objects - found and constructed, and glitch. Her practice-based research is bolstered by queer and crip theory. Extending gestures of care towards those forgotten, deemed useless, and assumed helpless, she uses these objects to build a space that rejects this point of view. Worldbuilding radically accessible spaces in spite of the barriers they are built upon, here her alter ego Lady can play. Emily earned an MFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in 2024.
